Ladies, I talk a lot about saving and budgeting and being able to afford the luxuries that you desire in a way that doesn’t involve debt.
Here are a few inexpensive things that you can do to enjoy the finer things in life without having to set money aside.
It’s important that we treat ourselves to little things as we go along, because we work hard has wives, mom’s and in business so we need to enjoy things along the way, enjoy the now, and be in this moment!
Get a blow-out.
For only forty dollars you can get a deep conditioning treatment and walk out the door forty minutes later looking like a million dollars! What woman doesn’t want to feel that way. And with high end products nowadays, you can keep that look for 2-3 days. It’s amazing the bounce to our steps when we walk out of a hair bar – and they are cropping up everywhere, so if you haven’t already had one, then give it a try.
At my office, if someone is doing their job well and get their deadlines met, they are allowed to leave early on a Friday. Go to happy hour and have some fun. Listen to great music, sit on a patio and enjoy some good old fashioned girl time. Spring is here, so the warm weather is right around the corner. If you can’t get out early on Friday, then do a Saturday brunch or lunch with your girlfriends. It’s ok to forget about all the housework, or to get a sitter for a 2-3 hours, once or twice a month.
Take a grounding class.
Most of you may not know what this is, but grounding classes are on the weekends and are becoming increasingly popular. They include a group setting in which you do a combination of yoga poses to “ground” your energy, combined with drumming (which is very freeing and brings out the inner child in you). Some of these classes include other components, like relaxing essential oils or even short speakers. I used to think of this as a class, but now I think of it as two hours of pure bliss once a month.
Swing on the playground.
Can you think of anything more relaxing and freeing than swinging on a swing set? This has got to be one of the most amazing feelings in my opinion. I have so many memories of swinging as a kid – and remember that move at the end when you jump out onto the pebbles when you are in full swing – well, maybe leave that part out! When you swing, your mind becomes clear and you can resolve the issues that are spinning in your head. The solutions will come to you – just try it!
No matter how busy you are and what’s on your mind, take 5, 10 or 30 minutes to mediate in the morning.
You don’t have to be perfect. As long as you take that time to go into the zone first thing in the morning you are guaranteed a better day! Don’t worry if your mind wonders. Be nice to yourself. Be patient with yourself. You don’t have to do it perfectly every time. Just do it!
Have a great week!
